Prof. Yalin Lu graduated from Nanjing University, P. R. China, with a PhD in Solid State Physics in 1991. He became an Associate Professor in both Physics and Materials Science Departments of Nanjing University in 1992. He joined the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the University of California at Berkeley Chemistry College in 1996 as a Visiting Professor, then Tufts University in 1997 as a Research Assistant Professor in the Electro-Optics Technology Center (EOTC) in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. Dr. Lu joined Corning Inc. as Sr. Staff Scientist/ Project Manager in the year of 2000 because of a successful business acquisition, and was recruited to Thermo Electron Corp. as Sr. Scientist and R&D Director in its Photonics Division in 2001. In 2003 he joined the US Air Force Academy (USAFA) Physics Department as a Senior Research Scientist in its Laser and Optics Research Center (LORC), and then in 2005 the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) adjunct faculty in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
